Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't you use regular Portland cement on old buildings?
Historic buildings were built with softer lime-based mortars that allow the masonry to flex and breathe. Portland cement is much harder and can trap moisture, causing the softer historic brick or stone to crack and spall. We use appropriate lime mortars for heritage work.
